Ask any group of lab scientists and technicians about their dream lab environment, and you might well get an earful. Chances are, the responses will be eerily similar…something like, “The laboratories of tomorrow (meaning TODAY) need to be open, aesthetically pleasing, plug-and-play, flexible, energy-efficient, carbon-neutral, and safe for all users”. Laboratory furniture is an integral part of virtually all laboratories – and can have a significant impact on both the form AND function of your lab. As a lab furniture manufacturer and distributor, it is the focus of New England Lab to design, fabricate and supply lab furniture that is both crafted from top-quality materials and constructed specifically to optimize the flexibility and efficiency of your lab. The type of furniture and the design elements that we help you choose depend on the specialization of your laboratory and the application areas that you will be dependent upon.
A few examples of adaptable laboratory furniture systems and components we have recently installed:
The Optima Series: Complete lab flexibility – a moveable system designed to adapt to changing lab processes, equipment and users. Self-supporting benches are constructed with either fixed or adjustable height work surfaces and offer single or double sided flexibility. Lower storage options include suspended, mobile and floor mounted cabinets and are available in a variety of configurations. Cabinets and shelves can be added above the work surface for additional storage. Pre-plumbed and pre-wired quick connect mechanical service fixtures are used in conjunction with overhead service carriers or ceiling panels which facilitates bench movement and optimizes layout flexibility.
The Optima Series 1100 is a single-sided bench with 2″ x 2″ square legs.
The Optima Series 1500 is a double-sided bench with a shared centerpost.
The Optima Series 1500FL is a double-sided bench with a shared centerpost. The table legs are at a fixed height and can be fitted with a decorative end panel
Ductless Fume Hoods: Cost-effective and mobile – ductless fume hoods are designed to protect both the user and the environment from hazardous vapors. This specialized line of hoods utilizes carbon filtration technology to trap chemical vapors instead of releasing them into the environment. This hood is ideal for specific applications such as light chemical sampling, pipetting, weighing, and capsule filling.
Mobile Specialty Storage Cabinets – Storage cabinets are designed using modern techniques to store laboratory equipment and chemicals in an efficient, economic and safe manner. These durable, customized lab cabinets are manufactured from corrosion and heat resistant materials. Storage cabinets come with adjustable shelves and per almost any specification of our clients.
Adjustable Laboratory Tables – With fixed leveling feet or with super-duty locking casters, laboratory tables can often be the perfect solution for flexibility. The in-stock Table On Demand (TOD) is adjustable from 30 to 37″ with either casters or levelers attached, and ship with both included for the ultimate in reconfigure-ability. The double bolt-height adjustment on all four legs provides the stability of a fixed leg table. With stainless steel adjustable leg extenders and a fully welded frame this table meets all the quality construction you expect from high load capacity lab tables. Optional overhead shelving kits can be mounted to the back of these tables to provide more storage space, and other accessories such as task lighting and power strips as well.
Laboratory Chairs and Stools – Lab chair designs consider both the size of the lab and the number of lab technicians – so that they occupy minimal space and facilitate ease of movement around the lab.
With dozens, if not hundreds, of new adaptable lab furniture innovations on the horizon – your lab adaptability needs (and dreams) can finally be achieved! Stay tuned as we will profile some of these innovations in coming weeks.
